Panna Selected as a Perfect Tiger Reserve for Tiger Conservation


Source of the forest department says, Panna national park is an ideal place for tiger conservation. Panna have 0 tiger in 2009 but now about a dozen cubs and six adult tigers are roaming in the area of Panna National Park in Madhya Pradesh. Panna tiger reserve is on of the reserves in world for tiger conservation. A senior officer of Panna tiger reserve said, it is possible by help of Wildlife Institute of India (WII) and Panna has caught the attention of International forest department but wildlife organization of Russia and Cambodia is very inspiring by the improvement of Panna.  

Pench National Park is situated in the south boundary of Madhya Pradesh in both districts of Seoni and the Chhindwara, India.80 kilometres distance between Pench tiger reserve and Nagpur and covered total 758 square kilometres. Pench wildlife sanctuary was declared in 1983 and was declared as Tiger reserve in the 1992 under the tiger project of central government. It is 19th tiger project reserve in the India.
Pench tiger reserve is most popular for its tiger population, Gaur, Nilgai wild pig, wild dog and Sambar. There are 40 different species of the Mammals, 200 different of species birds, 15 different species of reptiles and 5 different species of the amphibians. It is also known for its natural beauty and charming cheering of the birds.

First 2 tigresses T1 and the T2 were introduced from the Kanha tiger reserve and the Bandhavgarh National Park in the March 2009. After sometime of shifting the T1 and T2 one male tiger (T3) was brought from the Pench National Park and during in the one year 2010, T1 and T2 delivered their cubs. There are two orphaned female cubs (T4 and T5) were brought in the March and the November 2011 form the Kanha national Park. Its mother has dead in a fight with another tiger in May 2005.

IUCN Cautions the State against Poaching of the Lions


While changing the Asiatic Lions from the critically endangered species the category to species of the endangered in its red list, International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) at same time has too cautioned the department of the forest against the poaching threats to species.  

The International Union for Conservation of Nature Red List Report stated that subpopulation of the lions is rising and is considered the stable now in the Gujarat. Number of the lions is too reported to be spreading beyond boundaries of protected sanctuary of the Gir to the satellite townships. Gir National Park is only a dwelling for Asiatic Lions in the world. 

Taking the note of 200 incidents of the poaching report the further added that the constant monitoring is needed to ensure that levels of the hunting do not increase. According to the source of the forest department about 8 lions were poached in the 2007. However, red list of IUCN has in its report the stated that total 34 animals were reported the killed in the 2007. It is a very high figure because eight loins were poached in a year, a senior officer said.    
Although, experts say that was a major achievement for conservation the efforts of state government. Ravi Chellam expert on Lions says, “This species is dispersing the outside protected area and its population is increasing. It was adequate to list of the lion as species of the endangered from critically endangered.  
Y V Jhala, head of department Animal Ecology and the Conservation Biology said, “Management’s efforts towards conservation of species are planned with intention to the reduce threat perception towards. For the Asiatic lions, success of conservation has not only led to rise in the population of the lions but has too raised dispersal range of animals. It is indeed the feather in cap for state that even IUCN has also the recognized its conservation efforts.” He said that next aim of state government should be have animals listed as the threatened species.      

Dr H S Singh, additional principal chief conservator of the forest says, The Asiatic Lion as a whole is the listed in the vulnerable category. But it is good news for state as Asiatic lion was not listed as endangered species.
